If you're interested in using our Custom Report Programming service, it's best if you provide a mockup using actual data from your system. A mockup is typically a PDF* which shows us exactly what you want the report to look like when it's complete; the information contained in it should be accurate to what we would find in your system if we searched for it. The reasons for this are that it answers many questions that would need to be asked before we can begin programming the new template and it provides an expected result when we test the template we create for you.
* If your report is going to export to Excel or CSV, an Excel file is a more appropriate mockup than a PDF.
Additionally, if you're basing your Custom Report request on an existing report, please include its complete name. If your request is not based on an existing report, the mockup should be created from scratch or in such a way that no superfluous information is included. If your request is complex and you feel that providing a second copy of the mockup with markups/comments would help, please feel free to do so.
Doing the mockup will give us the insight necessary to assist you in a timely fashion. If you've used custom captions for dates, like changing Ship Date to Prep Date, it's also helpful if you provide a list of such changes. While we can hunt down these changes, it can be time-consuming to do so. It's likely that you're more familiar with all of those and it's possible that we might overlook one or two. Email your completed mockup to firstname.lastname@example.org with an appropriate subject line.
Once a mockup is received, we will clarify the request, if needed. If everything is acceptable, we typically forward your request to our programmer for an estimate of the time it will take to complete the work; this is an hours-based estimate, not a "due date" estimate. From that, we'll generate a proposal for your approval. Upon your acceptance, the programmer will be advised to proceed with the project.
Once the first version of the template is complete, you will have the opportunity to make corrections and modifications, if needed. The fee for the service is $120 per hour, and the final amount is based on the actual time it takes to complete the request and any modifications.
