Overview
Service offerings are organized in folders called Resource Types. There are several types of default resources established in Flex:
- Labor
- Services
- Show Expenses
- Travel
You can edit or delete any of these types of resources by default, and add additional resource types that suit the needs of your company.
Creating a New Resource Type for Services
- On the System Settings menu, click Resource Types.
- Click New Resource Type in the Workbench Menu.
- Enter the new resource type information.
- Name: The name of the new resource type.
- Name Plural: The pluralized name of the resource type (used in various places throughout Flex).
- Availability Mode: Typically not applicable to service resource types unless it is a labor or staffing resource type.
- Applicable Resource Class: Choose "Services" so the new resource type will appear in the Resource Browser under the Services section.
- Taxable: Choose yes or no based on whether or not service offerings assigned to this resource type will be taxable.
- Discount Enabled: Choose yes or no based on whether or not service offerings assigned to this resource type will be discountable.
- Call Time Enabled: Choose yes or no based on whether or not you want a call time to appear under any service offering assigned to this resource type when it is put on an element.
- Sales Account: Optional account mapping for QuickBooks integration.
- Purchase Account: Optional account mapping for QuickBooks integration.

- Click SAVE.
Editing a Resource Type
- On the System Settings menu, click Resource Types.
- Double-click the resource type that you want to edit.
- Edit the resource type information.
- Name: The name of the new resource type.

Adding a Child to a Resource Type
You can add a child to any service resource type. For example, you might want to categorize your labor service offerings further by including child folders for each main labor category under the Labor resource type (Union Labor, Audio Labor, etc.).
- On the System Settings menu, click Resource Types.
- Click the cog-wheel next to the resource type that you want to add a child to.
- Click Add New Child.
- Enter the new resource type information.
- Name: The name of the new resource type.
- Name Plural: The pluralized name of the resource type (used in various places throughout Flex).
- Availability Mode: Typically not applicable to service resource types unless it is a labor or staffing resource type.
- Applicable Resource Class: Choose "Services" so the new resource type will appear in the Resource Browser under the Services section.

- Click SAVE.
The new resource type will appear as a child folder, both in the resource types list page on the System Settings menu, and in the Resource Browser in the Services section.
Rearranging the Order of Service Resource Types
- On the System Settings menu, click Resource Types.
- Choose Services from the Resource Class drop-down menu (optional).
- Drag and drop the resource types by clicking and holding the far left section of the row (the small dots), then choose an option from the Move Resource Type prompt window.
The order in which the resource types are listed on this page will be the order in which they appear in the Resource Browser.
An alternative method is to drag and drop the folders in the Resource Browser (no need to open the Resource Types page on the System Settings menu).
Deleting a Resource Type
- On the System Settings menu, click Resource Types.
- Click the cog-wheel next to the resource type that you want to delete.
- Click Delete.
