    Hey Robert,

    The Open/Closed setting when creating a Quote is a common misunderstanding. It initially says closed because the Quote technically isn't created at that point. As soon as you press 'Ok' and the Quote is created, that status changes to Open when you go to the Modify tab and then Edit Header.

    I frequently turn that setting off for customers during training sessions to avoid confusion - especially because you can create a Workflow Action to close a Quote if needed. If you'd like to do the same, you can go to the Main Menu > Projects > Element Definitions > Quote > Status Options tab and set 'Open / Close Enabled' to No.

    looking now.  I can try to reach out if need be unless you can quickly point me in the right direction.
    I'm looking at the workflow not for quotes.  I don't see anything about creating a quote.  the closest thing is the inquiry status state.  then there is a check box.  ?
