Mobile Computer type of scanner

Greetings community. Is anyone willing to comment as to whether i'm headed down the wrong path by trying to understand if something such as the Zebra TC2x series product can function as a scanner for our FLEX operations? We are using QR codes, RFID not currently on the radar. I'm trying to facilitate a system where trips to desktops/workstations are reduced/eliminated while performing scanning functions. What might be the factors I’m not considering here? I was trying to ensure that FLEX mobile would run fine on the TC2x unit.
