Difference between "Start Date" and "Show Start Date" in "Fetch By" Calendar settings
Hey All,
Does anyone know the difference between these 2?
I have changed the caption on the "start date' to "equipment booked from," and the end date to "equipment booked until" as we want Flex pulling availability from before and after the actual event so we don't get conflicts during the prep time.
I have added a "Show Start Time" field in the "header block columns" and used the "show start time" field type for it.
However, if have either "start time" or "show start time" selected in the "Fetch by" setting in the Calendar edit window, an element will not display in the calendar unless the "equipment booked from" field is filled in. Which makes sense if "start time" is selected, as I changed the caption, but why is the Calendar not fetching from the "Show Start Time" field when the "Fetch by" setting is set to "Show Start Time"

Hi Chris,
The difference is that those are two different fields at the Element level. "Start Date" is a typical alias for the "Start Date" options found in Element Definitions > Dates & Times. Changing the name of this has no effect on what it does, which, as you allude to, controls availability calculations.
"Show Start" is found at Element Definitions > Field Settings and is "just a date field." As per its name, one would typically indicate the date/time that the show actually starts. Some might interpret this as the time "the curtain rises," while others might say it's "the day we arrive on site" (although "Load In Date" could also mean that).
As for the odd functionality, I suggest contacting our support team at support@flexrentalsolutions.com and seeing if they can assist you. Worst case, this is a previously unknown bug and we can get it recorded and into the development pipeline.
