Tiered pricing for overtime; "price" column showing extended price instead of hourly rate

    Hi Chris,

The functionality of Tiered Pricing is highly variable. The first thing I'd check is the Tiered Pricing Models tab of your Quote Element Definition settings (Hamburger > Projects > Element Definitions). You'll want "Show Tiered Pricing" set to Yes for the Pricing Model in question. If you don't want your client's to see them, set "Line Mute Tiers" to Yes as well.

Once that's set, go back to your Quote and toggle the Pricing Model to something else and back to your tiered model. You should get a result something like this:

Note that the light gray, italic text is not editable, but both cells in the Price column are. The yellow highlighting here is for a non-discountable line. All tiers that are calculated will now appear and have an editable Price.

And that brings us to the reason for the behavior you'd see without the tier lines showing: when tiers are not shown, we don't know how many tiers are underlying the line, so the Price column is always the same as the Extended Price. And for consistency, it remains that way even with the tiers showing.

I don't recall all of the technical details off the top of my head, but it's possible we could do this differently; it's been this way for (probably) over a decade at this point and, to my knowledge, there're not a lot of requests for a change in the functionality.

    Hi Randy,

Thanks for this. Yes the "show tiers" function works fine and this will all be fine for our purposes. I just thought it was weird at first for the price and extended price to show the same number. I thought it was a setting I had incorrect and was slamming my head against a wall trying to fix it lol. But all is well, we are good on this.

    Thanks again
