Unreturned Items Report
I have set so an unreturned items report is emailed to me every Friday a 8 am. These reports are always blank....which would be great if there were not any unreturned items. If I go through flex and create the same report, I get an actual report with the few items that are unreturned. Any ideas why this would be happening?

A blank report usually means it thinks there are no records in the database which match the query.
Open System Settings > Automated Reports > your Unreturned Items Report job and check the report generation settings at the bottom.
Do you have multiple locations? Is it set to a different location than what you are wanting?
Set to show subrental items only?
Aside from that, you could try deleting the automatic job and creating a new one.
