Can't find inventory...
I'm in the process of streamlining inventory in Flex. I'm currently going through folders and Child Group folders to make sure there aren't overlapping descriptions/folders.
For example, one of my main inventory folders & child groups are Parts/Lighting/Replacement Parts/S4 Parts. It's a bit much so I put everything from the Replacement Parts folder into the S4 Parts folder. I deleted the "Replacement Parts" folder and changed "S4 Parts" to "S4."
Now it goes: Parts/Lighting/S4. I changed the Item Name to each part to reflect the change. The Item Name no longer reads: "Parts, Lighting, Replacement Parts, S4 Parts, S4 Bushing Cup"
Instead: "Parts, Lighting, S4 Bushing Cup.
It makes sense, but I'm noticing that in the "S4" child group next to Item Name, the inventory in parentheses is not correct. When I open the item, I'm getting zeroes across the board but in parentheses it saying 4.
ex..S4 Bushing Cup (4)
When I edit the inventory item to see its structure it's "Non Serialized Model." Also, the Primary Group is "S4," not some other location.
I'm confused as to where the (4) is coming from. I'm also wondering if this is a normal practice when it comes to inventory. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey Joseph,
If you get in touch with us at support@flexrentalsolutions.com we may be able to help you with this, but as you are a self-hosted customer, I will need to be granted access to your server to try and fix the problem. I believe the cache directory has just become corrupt.
We should also talk about getting you off of your self-hosted instance. As Flex5 will be available for day-to-day operations around the middle of the year, and self-hosted customers cannot take advantage of this as Flex5 is a cloud-based only solution. Get in touch and let's chat.
The final thing is you should definitely get in touch with Aaron Horn. He is one of our Flex-endorsed independent consultants. While we do our best to answer all the questions we can, someone like Aaron can provide valuable insight and help into not only Flex but inventory control best practices and warehouse workflow in general. Thanks for your questions, I hope to hear from you soon.

Hey Joseph,
I'd suggest contacting support about the quantities since this is pretty specific. It's not normal for the parenthesis number to be (4) if you're seeing 0's across the Qty tab for a non-serialized item. Perhaps there's a re-indexing or something similar that needs to happen if you just made changes.
I personally think your group changes are better. The original "Replacement Parts" group probably didn't add much benefit. I was a bit confused when you said the Item Name now reads "Parts, Lighting, S4 Bushing Cup". Are you putting the group tree hierarchy in the Item Name of an inventory model? That would be highly unusual. It would usually just be "S4 Bushing Cup". Perhaps you're talking about the group tree listing at the top of an inventory parent model page.
Hope that helps Joseph. Let me know if I can be of direct service as a consultant.

Ok, Thanks. I will reach out to support. As far as the Item Name, yes, there is an awful lot of info there. We also have Item Short Name where it is condensed to "S4 Bushing Cup". I'm not usre why this was done. I can only guess it's because we do not use barcoders here yet? The more info, the easier it will be to find? I'm not sure. I'm trying to get a handle on all inventory practices and this is just one of the many things I have questions about. What do you charge as far as consultation goes? lol

Yeah, that is very unusual practice.
I don't post my rates online, mostly because they change over time. Shoot me an email to the below address and I'll send it over. Thanks Joseph! Hope I can be of service.
