Watch out for the new “Explode Free Pick on Recovery Scan” Option!

Just a quick heads up for fellow Flexers out there!

We've just been caught out by one of the new features in Flex5 that was added in the January 13th update. Possibly due to the way we work when dealing with held systems for clients but i'm sure others might do this as well.

Quote:

"Implemented the “Explode Free Pick on Recovery Scan” option to Inventory Settings menu. (When set to “yes”, all contents within free pick containers will explode after a recovery scan)."

I hadn’t registered the implications of the setting until now and i hadn't even thought to check it but it had defaulted to 'Yes'.

The scenario:

We hold equipment for clients and do not return it on the manifest if they are going back out using the exact same equipment for a new rental period. We might use content builder to rebuild contents and/or visually check nothing is missing. When the gear goes back out again we make a new Quote > pull sheet > prep screen

When we moved equipment from a non-returned list straight out onto the new prep sheet, we scan the outer case, which (for us) is nearly always a free pick container and so it was treated as a recovery scan and exploded out all the contents rather than moving them onto the new manifest.

There followed a bit of frantic 'what happened there' , some rescanning of the contents and then an email to support asking for help!!

It would have been better if the setting had been defaulted to set as no. - At least for us anyway! 😊
