    Hi Aaron,

It is very possible for items to have the same serial number.  Although it's not very common to get those items from the same Manufacturer - it is still possible.

That is where the Flex Barcode comes in.  The barcode field is unique to each item in Flex.  Allowing us to print these barcodes to easily scan and track gear individually.  If you leave this field blank when adding inventory into the system it will automatically be generated for you according to the Numbering Scheme assigned to the Resource Type you are adding units to. (Note: The default scheme is Sequential.)

Eddie provided a very good example of how to set this up for Quote building purposes.  Here is a Help Center article that might help along with the process: https://helpcenter.flexrentalsolutions.com/hc/en-us/articles/360010320333-Suggestions-and-Suggestion-Types

Hey Aaron, what we do is we use the receiver (in our case a Shure UR4D), and we put the handheld and the beltpack under suggestions. That way when we put a receiver on the quote, the 2-channel receiver is on the quote and we can pick and choose the accessories and the quantities that go with the receiver. So everything is a unique item in the system (UR4D Receiver, UR1 Beltpack, UR2 Handheld).

Another thing we like to do is we give items their own number that is unique to our company, so any given piece of equipment will have it's own unique serial number, as well as it's own unique number within our company. The idea with this is that we generate a unique barcode for each item, so when we are prepping shows, we can scan each item into the rack/case that it is going into.

Any given wireless system is made up of 4 components for me, the receiver, the handheld, the beltpack, and the capsule (for handhelds) or the mic (for beltpacks).

I hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions!

    -Eddie
