Contents Have Pricing
How do you get the contents of an item to have pricing?
At the moment when we drag a container thats has contents and suggestions only the suggestions have pricing.
The rate column for the line item is blank but we can manually change it to day rate.
This is a pain as we have many contents to one container.
The container also has storage requirements as its a kit.
Pricing needs to be per line item not via the kit costs.
Thanks

Hey James,
Thank you for the question, and Jeff is right that if you want it to sum the price, the items should be added as auto-included suggestions, and set so that they are not included in the price. As we move into Flex5 we are looking at ways that we can improve this workflow, including bulk editing suggestions.
I believe the original train of thought was that if it was a "content" of the parent item that the price of the parent item would, quite naturally, reflect all the contents inside of it, whereas a package that may not have fixed contents would have a price that is calculated from all of the suggestions that get added while building the package in the suggestions window.
I appreciate your comments and I have added your desire for this feature to our customer request documentation for Flex5. I can't guarantee that it will be implemented but as we continue to try and provide a better experience, we are actively looking to include new features in the future.

So what we have done is to do any items that need pricing under it, we have setup a suggestion type called "Add as Child and Do NOT include in price" . Then instead of adding it as a content, we have it as a suggestion and then have it "Auto Add" . This is the only way I have found to make this work to add a child to the item....BUT it does not show the price or add it into the top level item.
IE..
ITEM $100
Auto Add Item $200
For total of 300. No where do you see this as $300 and if you have Child Line Items Muted by default, you may have a customer question where that $200 is.....
You can also have it add as a sibling which then will have it add under it as its own line item.
I wish there was a way to have a "Virtual Thing" and the Price be the summation of it's child contents.....That's what is really needed for me.....

Just looking for solutions for an issue one of our project managers brought up. I saw this thread years ago and thought I'd look into it again. Has there been any discussion of having child items adding to the top line so it adjusts the price of a package as the items change. A good example would be a Cable Package; I would like the Cable Package to reflect the sum of the contents without having to use the "auto add" suggestions as referenced above. What about a pricing model that allows the child items to sum into the top level item, such as a cable package in this example?
