Virtual Package Dilemma - Suggestions Only Availability
I want a package that in malleable and functional. In this case a wireless comms package:
1) base
4) Belt Backs
2) antennas
etc...
I used the individual items to add contents. so the base station get 1 headset and 2 antennas and the belt packs get 1 headset and 2 batteries.
The package gets a mounting kit and battery bank.
The idea it that if I change the number of belt packs the "contents" change with it.
Now I want the pricing to sum on the items I want to charge for which I can't do as contents in the package so I made them auto add suggestions with a suggestion type that carries the price. But that means the virtual package will also show zero on hand so I have to make the base a content but then if I increase the bases that change doesn't change the price of the package not to mention now I'm not tracking ROI on the items.
Any ideas how to work around this? I was thinking of making the base the "package" but then we have a lot of deleting to do if it's an al a cart order.

Hey Atticus,
I think you have your head wrapped around it pretty good. Something likely has to give. In this case, I'd recommend giving up the On Hand count of the virtual header item. While convenient when using the Contents tab, it's not as important as getting the package and pricing to behave as you desire. ROI reporting is another reason for choosing the suggestions that include price over getting an On Hand summation at the virtual item level. For many clients, adding the package to a quote/pull sheet is adequate to know if you have enough of the equipment available. Does that help?
Also, there may be some things that can be done to simplify your package a bit with the help of storage requirements, that is if you're not having to grab each piece off the shelf. Since you mentioned ROI, I'll also mention that ROI reporting is a specialty of mine. Let me know if I can provide consultation directly. Thanks Atticus.
