Bulk Input replacement cost and purchase cost
Replacement costs have been input into the Catalogue worksheet. Can this be applied in bulk to all serial items?

Hey Mike,
Unfortunately, there is not a way to do this in the UI, and it's also not an available field in the inventory ingest mechanism I sometimes use for clients to bulk edit inventory information. The only option I believe you have is to contact support@flexrentalsolutions.com and see if it's something they're willing to do on the back end. But be aware that it may not be a service they offer. It never hurts to ask!

Mike Walker, just to be clear, the field that is not available in the bulk editing mechanism we use is the serialized unit replacement cost. Other fields (such as model purchase cost, model replacement cost, and unit purchase cost) are available. Just specifically unit replacement cost is not available at this time. Let me know if you need assistance with any bulk editing of inventory other than that field.

Nick Thornton, the units do inherit if they are added after the parent model has a Replacement Cost populated. Existing units won't inherit updated or newly added parent model Replacement Costs. I'm assuming because of the question that Mike is in the situation that the Units don't have Replacement Costs populated.
And good point about the bulk editing of serial units. It still requires opening up each parent model, but may be worth looking at, Mike Walker. Not exactly a sweeping bulk edit, but depending on the need may be worth the effort for some models (or all possibly). Curious if you ended up trying to get all of your units populated with Replacement Cost.

Create a serialized inventory model "Test Model" with a serialized inventory item and leave the replacement cost on the model and item at the default $0 value. Create a pull sheet for yesterday with a return for today and process the order. When you check the return manifest (only place I really use the replacement value) the items replacement value will be $0 on the report.
Now undo the scan. Modify the "Test Model" replacement value to $250 and create a new pull sheet and process. The serialized item will inherit the new replacement value.
This would leave me to believe that if you modify the Replacement Value for the Inventory Model (Parent) the Child Item will inherit any non-populated or default values, in this case $0. Which carries on with the understood parent / child inheritance relationship.

You're seeing report intelligence and not the unit inheriting the Replacement Cost. If you look at the unit page for your newly made unit, you should still see $0 for your Replacement Cost. Since many people don't populate the Replacement Cost at the unit level, it's logical for the report to either use the parent replacement cost, or use the parent replacement cost if the unit replacement cost is 0. That would be my logical assumption without looking at the code.
