Possible to add more "layers" to the bin location function?

Hi All,

Looks like there are 4 layers to the bin location function on the inventory item screen: Section, Aisle, Shelf, and Bin. Is there a way to add more? My warehouse manager is going to start using this system and would like a 5th layer if possible.

  Interesting idea Chris. It's not a request that I've heard before. What would the 5th layer be?

  I'd say it's unlikely that this feature is updated anytime soon in Flex, unless there are many requests from other users. As a workaround, could one of those fields do double duty?

  Hey Benjamin,

  Not totally sure to be honest; my warehouse manager's previous employer used a 5-layer system and he was asking me if that was possible. We are moving forward with a 4-layer plan.

  You can also move everything to the Section or Bin field despite what it's labeled and leave the others blank. That would maximize your flexibility.  Internally, your team would need to understand what each part references (e.g. "A-7-F-3-C" (section-aisle-bay-row-bin)).

  Hi Chris,

  Sorry for the late reply on this... As Bigs suggested, this is not likely to happen anytime soon without tremendous community support. That said, I'm also curious about this 5th layer. I've worked in several warehouses (including a big name) and the 4-layer scheme fits for all of them; you might have to adjust your thinking on a couple of the names (like "section" is "department"). But I've always managed to fit things into it, mentally. I think this has come up only once before, but the memory is quite vague...
