Serialized storage Availability
I am trying to find a way to show availability of multiple storage container. I have 11 scenic pieces that are the same once built but have different pieces required to build them. We have made each piece a model with the piece as the unit so we can create storage containers and ensure the correct piece goes out with that system. Is there a way to make a virtual package that can pull from multiple serialized containers? Since each storage container requires unique storage requirements, I have not found a way that will allow me to see an accurate count or add 1 line to the pull sheet that would pull from the 11 options. Any help would be appreciated

unfortunately there seems to be no way to do what I am looking for. Each case or serialized storage is unique as they require different parts. Even though they make the same result, there is no way to have a virtual package link to multiple serialized storage units. Would love to be able to create a virtual model that holds multiple serialized storage units for quoting and reserving.

One idea...
You could create a Virtual Package that has nothing in the contents list, and populate your suggestions list with the (11) serialized storage containers.
That may get closer to what you are trying to accomplish. Not all the way to what you are trying to do, but closer...

Not sure I am following. A virtual Package requires a contents. I had one in a virtual package and then the rest as substitutions and it works but just not for availability. Looks like going to put all 11 in its own inventory group and the team can see what is available when they quote.
Just wish there was a way to either create a package that requires specific units (not permanent because then its one scan and they are all in or out without a proper QC check) or a way to create a virtual model with specific units (serialized storage containers).

Hi Alex-
David's suggestion is very close to my own but with a key difference. Make a Virtual Model (not a Virtual Package) called Scenic Picker or something like that. Add your 11 existing models as suggestions to the Scenic Picker. Now when you add the Scenic Picker to a quote, it will pop up the suggestions box and show the 11 options with their availability indicated. The virtual model itself is just being used as a vehicle for the 11 suggestions.
Does that seem like it will do the trick?
I am also curious about the contents of all of these different scenic kits. Are any of the contents shared between different kits? Are these items in your general inventory which also function as components of the kits? Are their similar types of components in each kit even if they're not the same actual models?
Depending on the answers to the above, you might be able have just one model and do something clever with Required Suggestions.
I hope that helps,
Bigs
