Overview
There are times when an asset manager may need to execute a preemptive resolution to a conflict that may not cause a shortage for the period of a particular job. In such cases, the typical method of Resolving Shortages will not work. The following instructions assume default Document Views and column names. If you have customized your system, substitute your changes as needed.
Force a Subrental
To force a subrental, go to the Logistics View of your Quote. There, you'll have several different columns in the Detail area with which to work. In this case, only the S/R Qty and S/R Vendor are important, but the others are useful if you need to force a purchase or force a transfer of inventory.
Enter the appropriate quantity and vendor for each of the lines you'll be subrenting, then click Update Subrental Paperwork in the Logistics section of the Workbench Menu (right-hand side). Doing so creates any RPOs needed for the vendors where you've entered an S/R Qty and S/R Vendor. Open each RPO to confirm correct quantities and costs.
Please refer to Subrental and Purchase Suppliers for additional information regarding the setup of known vendors and costs.
Force a Purchase
To force a subrental, go to the Logistics View of your Quote. There, you'll have several different columns in the Detail area with which to work. In this case, only the B/O Qty and B/O Vendor are important, but the others are useful if you need to force a subrental or force a transfer of inventory.
Enter the appropriate quantity and vendor for each of the lines you'll be purchasing, then click Update Backorder Paperwork in the Logistics section of the Workbench Menu (right-hand side). Doing so creates any RPOs needed for the vendors where you've entered an B/O Qty and B/O Vendor. Open each PPO to confirm correct quantities and costs.
Please refer to Subrental and Purchase Suppliers for additional information regarding the setup of known vendors and costs.
