Overview
Whenever you are on a warehouse scanning screen in Flex, you can choose which sound theme is being used for scan notifications. There are several default sound themes in Flex but you can create multiple sound themes in your system and even assign a different sound theme to each user (so there isn't any confusion when multiple users are scanning in the warehouse).
Each sound theme is made up of different sound clips which are assigned to different scanning actions in the sound theme settings.
Creating a Sound Theme
With sound clips uploaded, you can create a sound theme and assign each sound clip to a scanning action in the sound theme. Please see the Sound Clips article to learn how to add and manage sound clips.
- In the Main Menu, go to System Settings and select Sound Themes.
- Click the Add New Sound Theme button (in the bottom left of the screen).
- Give the sound theme a name then choose a sound clip for each scanning action from the drop-down menus.
- Ready Scan: Sound clip for when new equipment lists are loaded and ready for scanning.
- Valid Scan: Sound clip for when the system accepts a barcode scan.
- Invalid Scan: Sound clip for when the system does not accept a barcode scan.
- Duplicate Scan: Sound clip for when the system does not accept a barcode scan because it has already been scanned.
- Quantity Prompt: Sound clip for when the system requires the user to input a quantity.
- Container Opened: Sound clip for when a free pick container is opened.
- Container Closed: Sound clip for when a free pick container is closed.
- Scan Warning: Sound clip for when a scan process requires the user's attention.
- Click OK.
Editing a Sound Theme
- In the Main Menu, go to System Settings and select Sound Themes.
- Double-click the sound theme that you want to edit.
- Edit the applicable information.
- Click OK.
Choosing a Default Sound Theme
You can set a global default sound theme for all users in your Flex system.
- In the Main Menu, go to Inventory menu and select Inventory Settings.
- Choose a sound theme from the Default Sound Theme While Scanning option.
- Changes will automatically be saved.
With a default sound theme set, all users will have that sound theme chosen when they go to a warehouse scanning screen in Flex. Each user can also set a personal default sound theme, which is explained in the next section.
Changing a Sound Theme Per User
Sometimes when multiple people are scanning in the warehouse, it might get confusing if everybody is using the same sound theme. To avoid confusion, each user can use a different sound theme so they can tell which sounds are associated with their scans.
Whenever a user is on a warehouse scanning screen (prepping a pull sheet, returning a manifest, free scan in, etc.), they will have the option to choose which sound theme is being used. This will override the global default that was set in Inventory Settings.
To change the sound theme per user, click the drop-down menu in the footer (on any scanning screen), then choose a sound theme.
Remember, this will only change the sound theme for the user that made the change. This will also set the chosen sound theme as the default for that user, so whenever they log in again, their personal default sound theme will be used on any warehouse scanning screen.
In addition, a user can also do this by opening up a sound theme and setting "Default To Me" to yes. This will only apply to the user logged in and does not affect other users.
